Second Public Consultation on MetroLink Opens - August 2024

Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has announced the opening of a second statutory round of public consultation on the MetroLink project.

Newspaper notices published by TII last week informed the public about this consultation, which arises from documents submitted by TII to An Bord Pleanála during the Oral Hearing held in the Gresham Hotel in Dublin from 19 February 2024 to 28 March 2024.

These documents are already publicly available for review and have been for a number of months since first submitted during the Oral Hearing and uploaded to TII’s MetroLink Railway Order website under the heading: ‘Documents submitted during Oral Hearing.”

In order to ensure the public is fully informed, and has an opportunity to comment on this documentation, An Bord Pleanála has directed that this information be re-advertised, together with the updated Book of Reference which was submitted to An Bord Pleanála in June 2024.

The formal consultation period begins on Monday, 19 August and will conclude on 8 October 2024.

Submissions may be made to An Bord Pleanála by any member of the public during that window.

For ease of the public’s review and navigation, TII has created a dedicated section within the MetroLink RO website at www.metrolinkro.ie entitled “Oral Hearing Documents for Second Round of Public Consultation”. This shows all the documents which were submitted to An Bord Pleanála during the Oral Hearing and also contains an updated Book of Reference.

MetroLink Project Director, Aidan Foley clarified that An Bord Pleanála wrote to TII on July 1 formally requesting that all materials submitted to the Oral Hearing, together with the revised Book of Reference (collectively the Oral Hearing Documents) be made open for public consultation.

Logistics associated with printing this volume of material and the delivery of it to the locations concerned accounted for the period of time that has elapsed since receipt of the letter in July.

The additional information furnished to An Bord Pleanála is available at www.metrolinkro.ie “the Oral Hearing Documents for Second Round of Public Consultation”.

Hard copies of these documents are available for inspection at the following locations from 19 August 2024 to 8 October 2024:
